Rise & Shine: The Power of a Morning Ritual

How you start your day can make all the difference. It significantly impacts how you feel and function throughout the day. Even if you’re not a natural morning person (who wouldn’t want just one more hour of sleep?), establishing a morning ritual can completely transform your days.

Prioritize Your Sleep

One of the most crucial aspects of creating a successful morning routine is ensuring you get enough sleep. It’s challenging to wake up feeling refreshed and energized if you haven’t had sufficient rest. Prioritize your sleep! Consider saving social media scrolling for a mid-day indulgence rather than indulging before bedtime.

Make Time for Yourself

As a mother, it’s easy to feel pulled in multiple directions, often neglecting your own needs. It’s essential to take charge of your health by communicating to those around you that your time is valuable and that you matter. Hold your morning ritual sacred and take that time for yourself.

Small Adjustments, Big Changes

To create your cherished morning routine, consider adjusting your bedtime and wake time by just 15 minutes on each end. This small shift can make a significant difference in how you feel throughout the day.

Nurturing Activities to Include

Here are some self-care activities you can include in your morning ritual:

  • Gentle Face Wash: Take the time to wash your face slowly, incorporating a gentle massage or using tools like Gua Sha.

  • Body Care: Try dry brushing and oiling your body to awaken your senses and nourish your skin.

  • Journaling: Spend a few moments writing down your thoughts or intentions for the day.

  • Astrology Cards: Pull a few astrology cards for insight and inspiration.

  • Meditation and Movement: Engage in a short meditation or light movement to get your energy flowing.

Additional Techniques for a Great Start

Here are some of my favorite techniques that give me a fantastic start to my day:

  • Oil Pulling: A great way to promote oral health and kickstart your day.

  • Power Plate: Spend 5 minutes on this vibrating platform for a quick energy boost.

  • Breathing Exercises: Dedicate 10 minutes to breathing exercises while grooving on your yoga mat.

  • Morning Tea Ritual: Sit outside with a cup of tea and breathe in the fresh morning air with your dog, Rocco.

  • Infrared Blanket or Sauna: Use these for relaxation and detoxification.

  • Cold Plunge/Shower: Invigorate your senses and get your blood flowing.

  • Gratitude Practice: Acknowledge at least three things you are thankful for before getting out of bed. This helps establish a positive mindset.

Whatever you choose to include in your morning ritual, ensure that you do it consistently for yourself. You’ll be grateful you started the day by choosing YOU!
